Everyone needs to contribute in some way to preserving our earth. One very simple contribution that is easy for anyone and everyone is to use recyclable, reusable shopping bags.
Plastic bags are a huge problem for the environment; clogging waterways, harming wildlife and taking up space in the landfills. It takes up to 1,000 years for plastic to break down. It also takes an estimated 12 million barrels of oil to make the bags that the US consumes each year.
Many countries have banned the use of plastic bags or taken steps to discourage the use of them. In the United States, California has banned them and hopefully, more states will follow their lead.
Everyone shops, right? Use reusable bags. Reduce the roadside litter, preserve our streams, help our wildlife, save our landfills, and reduce the use of the oil. It's so EASY to be an earth preservation contributor.
